Opera Queensland has joined forces this year with the Brisbane Music Festival to present a couple of intimate vocal recitals. This second collaboration features Brisbane-based soprano Sarah Crane and Australian baritone Shaun Brown, accompanied by Festival Artistic Director Alex Raineri. Entitled A Poet’s Love, Brown will sing Dichterliebe, Robert Schumann’s classic song cycle of love, hope and fear, while Crane will perform Mahler’s transcendent Rückert Lieder, which includes the iconic Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen (I Am Lost to the World).

Limelight Editor’s Choice

A Poet’s Love embodies the very essence of romanticism.

In our second recital in collaboration with the 2021 Brisbane Music Festival, join soprano Sarah Crane, baritone Shaun Brown and the Festival’s Artistic Director, Alex Raineri, for A Poet’s Love, a celebration of poetry and song through two seminal song-cycles.

Gustav Mahler’s transcendent Rückert Lieder cast a uniquely magical spell, transporting the audience to an incorporeal, heavenly plane whilst Schumann’s Dichterliebe embodies more earthly sentiments, a collection of songs that speak of dreams and fairy tales.
