The Choir of St James’ and BachBand@StJames’ present a dazzling and uplifting celebration of the Easter season in their first concert for 2022, Clouds of Gold. J. S. Bach’s Ascension Oratorio BWV 11, with works by renaissance masters, Victoria and Manchicourt, will be performed alongside contemporary works by Britten, Tavener, Whitacre and Judith Weir, who was appointed to the 395-year old royal post of Master of the Queen’s Music. The Choir of St James’, directed by Warren Trevelyan-Jones, enjoys a reputation of being one of the finest choirs in Australia. It is one of the oldest musical establishments in Australia and is linked to the earliest days of the colony of New South Wales.
