West Australian Symphony Orchestra: Mahler Three
2 December 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm AEDT
One event on 3 December 2021 at 7:30 pm
Mahler pulled out all the stops for his epic, six-movement Third Symphony, an all-encompassing work that really does embody the composer’s maxim that a symphony should contain the whole world. From the extraordinary 30-minute opening ‘march of spring’ through heavenly visions that call for choral voices and a mezzo-soprano, the work runs the gamut. The great final Adagio is as subline as anything Mahler wrote. Asher Fisch – a world-renowned conductor of Mahler – leads the combined forces of WASO, soloist Stefanie Irányi, ladies of the WASO Chorus and Aquinas College Schola Cantorum. A must hear!
