Contemporary theatre company shake & stir reopens QPAC’s Lyric Theatre, closed since March, with its adaptation of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol. The Queensland Government recently announced theatres can operate at 100 percent capacity – a Christmas gift indeed. No wonder shake & stir is excited, as one of the company’s trio of artistic directors, Nick Skubij, tells Deborah Jones.

 A Christmas Carol looks dangerously like becoming a seasonal tradition in Brisbane. As a company that likes to – forgive me – shake things up, what does that feel like?

It was our intention for this show to become a much-loved and anticipated annual event and, with this being the third run, it looks like it has! It is just the most perfect way to finish the year and escape the scorching heat of a Brisbane summer. In the theatre, the audience is whisked back to Dickens’s London to share in a story of hope, forgiveness, community and festive cheer.
