The virtuoso pianist received rave reviews for his Proms debut in August. Now he has recital concerts in Australia.

When Ukrainian-born Australian virtuoso pianist Alexander Gavrylyuk made his debut at the Proms in London in August, playing Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto with the Scottish Symphony Orchestra, he received a five-star review from The Times, in which Anna Picard said that his “ease with Rachmaninov’s passagework was startling”. Reviewing for Limelight, eminent pianist Roger Woodward described Gavrylyuk’s performance as “electrifying” and “a revelation”.

Gavrylyuk is currently performing in recital in Australia in a concert featuring Bach‘s Toccata and Fugue in D minor (arranged by Busoni), Haydn’s Sonata in B minor, No 47 Xvi, Chopin’s Etudes Op. 10 No 8 – No 12, Scriabin’s Sonata No 5, Rachmaninov’s Preludes Op. 23, No 1, No 2 and No 5, and Rachmaninov’s Sonata No 2 (2nd edition).
