Courtney Monsma has quickly risen to the top as a performer in Australian musicals. She is currently charming audiences as Anna in Disney’s Frozen the Musical, having previously knocked peoples’ socks off as Katherine Howard in SIX The Musical.

She has just released her debut studio album In The Light, which features nine covers from musicals including Frozen and SIX, as well as Waitress, Songs for a New World and Beetlejuice among others. It also includes an original track called The Light That You Are, which Monsma wrote during lockdown.

Monsma graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University with a Bachelor of Music, and was a finalist in the 2018 Rob Guest Endowment Award. Other credits include the Australasian tour of Disney’s Aladdin, in which she understudied the role of Princess Jasmine, and the Australian tour of Mamma Mia!, in which she understudied the role of Sophie. She spoke to Limelight about her new album.
