Just over a month ago, Isy Lauf received a message from Joff Bush, the head composer of Bluey, the hugely popular animated television series for children. Bush composed the show’s infectious theme song, and heads a music team of additional composers, co-writers, arrangers and musicians. He wanted to know if Lauf was interested in doing some work on the series.

Based in Brisbane, Lauf is a young screen composer and sound engineer. She has composed the music for several short films, and participated in Topology’s Launchpad Mentorship Program for emerging composers. The call from Bush came out of the blue.

“He found me through my Australian Guild of Screen Composers profile and my website, and he basically said that he was looking for an assistant composer to fill in for a few months and wanted to know whether I was interested. That’s how that started,” Lauf tells Limelight.
