As a musician of Russian background, do you have a special connection with this piece? 

The fact we are Russian means these melodies do speak to us on a special level. For example, June is such a famous melody and I think it really connects with us as Russians for some reason. I don’t know, there’s just something in that melody that speaks to Eastern Europeans.

These pieces were arranged by your father. Any family quarrels over who would play these gorgeous melodies?

The way that dad arranges is very specific to us. There’s never any sort of melody and accompaniment role, it’s all very much mixed all the way through. We just keep changing all the time, even to the point, in some of the movements, we might play a melody for literally a beat or two and then swap it around. So we both get to play pretty much everything. I guess, for us,
