It’s Don G’s opening night and Opera Australia’s latest Donna Anna has all the answers.

1. Three pieces of music you love:

Chanson Triste by Duparc. Devastatingly beautiful.
Hello, Neil Diamond. Used to listen to it a lot as a teenager, it always gets me.
The Mad Scene, Hamlet by Thomas. Brilliant writing for my voice, incredibly challenging and exciting to sing.

2. Three vocal heroes:

Diana Damrau, Joan Sutherland, and my son Brendan Matthews: Damrau is a master of her instrument, I love her Mozart especially, Dame Joan for her incredible craft and Brendan for all he is now and will be. His singing is full of joy.

3. Which non-opera singer would you least like to see sing opera?

Jimmy Barnes… I can’t imagine it at all!! Haha… but God he’s awesome.

4. Three underrated operas:

Hamlet… Why won’t they do it here????
Hamlet and Hamlet…
I desperately want to sing Ophelie.

5. Three opera characters you would like to have as your best friends:

Oh heavens… well.. I’m going to look at some of the ladies I’ve sung. Most of them are mad, but there are a few with best friend...
