West Australian Symphony Orchestra: Landscape and Wonder
Dane Lam conducts one of the most celebrated works of Jean Sibelius, his Fifth Symphony, coupled with Prokofiev’s delightfully precocious ‘Classical’ Symphony, as well as Three Songs by Argentine composer Osvaldo Golijov. These songs draw on texts by Federico García Lorca and Emily Dickinson, as well as a Yiddish lullaby, to create something intensely moving – and with Sara Macliver performing, there won’t be a dry eye in the house. An 11am matinee on 4 November features just the Sibelius and the Prokofiev.
