Week 1

First Day butterflies (April 16)

My alarm rings at 8am, but in the haze of jetlag, it feels like it could be any time. I’ve only just got back to the UK from my hometown of Sydney, and today I have to get moving… It is my first day of rehearsals for Fiddler on the Roof with Grange Park Opera.

As far as chorus contracts go, it’s an exciting one, as the production is to star world-famous bass-baritone Bryn Terfel in the lead. We will be rehearsing over the next seven weeks in London, before heading to Hampshire for our run of 10 shows. The season concludes with what must be the ‘ultimate’ final performance – a semi-staged concert version at the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms. So that’s a lot to feel good...
