Season Preview: Your guide to the arts in 2023

The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra has announced its 2023 season. The mainstage program features six vibrant, diverse concerts, and includes the Australian debuts of Canadian-American cellist Elinor Frey, French Baroque violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte and Swiss-Iranian Baroque violinist Leila Schayegh. There is also a special collaboration with Turkish musicians Serhat Sarpel, Hakan Talu, and the Whirling Dervishes of the Mevlevi Order from Konya.

Away from the mainstage, Artistic Director Paul Dyer has a 10-year plan to encourage growth and develop change. “I want to focus on engaging more people, in more places and in different ways. That’s going to be my big focus,” he tells Limelight.

That plan includes the orchestra’s hugely successful digital platform Brandenburg One, a First Nations program, the education program and an intimate touring series for people aged 20 to 35 called Brandenburg Live Action, which will present multimedia happenings in unconventional spaces.
