On 4 February, thousands of opera lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy some of the most popular arias in the operatic canon for free, when BMW Opera for All arrives at Melbourne’s Federation Square for the first time. Featuring four of Australia’s finest opera singers accompanied by Orchestra Victoria, this special event has been made possible by Opera Australia’s new Platinum Partner BMW.

The event bolsters OA’s 2023 offering to Melbourne audiences, which came under fire from some quarters, when it was revealed that the company’s entire 2023 season in the Victorian capital would comprise just two operas in concert (Wagner’s Tannhäuser and Philip Glass’s Satyagraha) and recitals by tenor Michael Fabiano (who will also appear in OA’s fully staged production of Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvreur in Sydney) and bass Ferruccio Furlanetto.

Not unlike Opera in the Domain, BMW Opera for All is a large-scale, outdoor event presented free-of-charge. This international concert series forms part of BMW’s ongoing commitment to promoting the arts and partnering with cultural institutions around the world.
