Season Preview: Your guide to the arts in 2022

Ensemble Offspring has announced its 2022 season, filled with commissions, collaborations, and concerts in their musicians’ own homes.

In true Offspring fashion, the 2022 mainstage performances are conceptually and musically fascinating, addressing the chaos of the last two years of fire, flood and plague, engaging deeply with rhythm and the passage of time, and the way in which great art binds us together and inspires us through thick and thin.

The year kicks off with the Avant Gardens series, with three concerts held in the homes of Offspring musicians, a chance to truly get up close and personal.

In April, Offspring’s annual one-day percussion festival, Sizzle | Beat, returns to The Great Club in Sydney’s Marrickville, featuring the Sydney Conservatorium Percussionists, beatboxer Connor Malanos, performance art duo Throat Pleats, 2022 Hatched Associate Artist Eliza Shephard and culminating in a big group djembe jam, led by the Bangoura drummers, with the audience encouraged to bring...
