A multi-million donation from the Neilson Foundation will enable Griffin Theatre Company to purchase its home – the iconic SBW Stables Theatre. The donation, which is the single largest philanthropic gift in the theatre’s 42-year history, comes off the back of $5 million in funding from the NSW Government towards the venue’s redevelopment, announced in July.

Theatre allows people to explore new perspectives, stories and ideas in ways that digital media will never,” said Kerr Neilson, Founder and Director of the Neilson Foundation.

“Our landmark gift of $5 million toward the redevelopment of the Griffin theatre demonstrates our commitment to this intimate performance space where audiences and artists can share these valuable experiences.”
