Karen Rodgers has been appointed Director of Arts at Create NSW, a new role responsible for overseeing operational funding programs and helping to shape the NSW government’s policy agenda for the arts, screen and culture sector.

Rodgers comes to Create NSW from the Australia Council for the Arts, where for the past two years she has been Manager, Multi-Year Investment & Arts Investment. Prior to that, Rodgers served as Executive Director of Griffin Theatre Company and as General Manager of acclaimed dance-theatre ensemble Force Majeure.

“This is a rare opportunity to influence the future of culture and the arts in NSW and I am thrilled to join Create NSW, where I will continue to champion and support the many talented and creative people who make this state such an incredible place to live, work and visit,” said Rodgers.

Interim Chief Executive of Create NSW, Annette Pitman, said that Rodgers’ experience at a funding body as well as direct experience with arts organisations in the small-to-medium sector made her uniquely suited for this new role.
