Opera Australia announced today that Lyndon Terracini will leave the role of Artistic Director at the end of this month, a year ahead of schedule.

When Terracini’s departure from the company was announced in February 2022, he planned to leave at the end of 2023 when his contract terminated. It was also announced that he would continue to work with OA post-2023 in an Emeritus role, particularly on Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour (HOSH).

However, today’s announcement said that after announcing the 2023 season and “with a range of opportunities in Australia and overseas that he is keen to explore, it was agreed by all that now is the right time for him to step down.”
