Artistic Director Lyndon Terracini will depart Opera Australia at the end of 2023 when his current contract concludes, the company has announced.

In a statement announcing the departure, OA revealed that an international search for a new Artistic Director is already underway. It also announced that Terracini will continue to work with the company in an Emeritus role – in particular working on Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour post-2023.

In the statement, Fiona Allan, the company’s CEO, acknowledged Terracini’s contribution to the Company and Australia’s cultural landscape.
