Season Preview: Your guide to the arts in 2022

Sydney-based not-for-profit orchestra The Metropolitan Orchestra has unveiled its new season for 2022. Across 40 scheduled performances, the orchestra will premiere seven new commissioned works and two brand-new performances for children. The versatile season includes a broad range of performances, from the mainstage series conducted by Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams to the relaxed, family friendly Cushion Concert Series.

The 2022 season commences on 12 February with String Serenade in Petersham Town Hall, with Williams conducting the orchestra, joined by soloists Dawid Botha, Robyn Botha and Vicky Vukovich. The program begins with Bartók’s Romanian Folk Dances for String Orchestra, followed by the world premiere of Australian composer Mark Grandison’s Cellar Door, and the evening coming to an end with Dvořák’s vibrant Serenade for Strings.
