With the world in lockdown as the COVID-19 pandemic stretches on, musicians are recording videos to pay tribute to the health professionals working tirelessly to treat people affected by the virus. Performers from superstar cellist Yo-Yo Ma to Australian soprano Siobhan Stagg have taken to the internet to perform music in honour of those at the front line.

Yo-Yo Ma recorded a performance of the Sarabande from Bach’s Cello Suite No 3 as part of a series the cellist is sharing on social media under the hashtag #songsofcomfort. “This is for the healthcare workers on the frontlines,” he said. “Your ability to balance human connection and scientific truth in service of us all gives me hope.”
