Adelaide Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of English conductor Nicholas Braithwaite as ASO Conductor Laureate, in recognition of his long service to the orchestra. Braithwaite has worked with the orchestra for over 30 years and served as Principal Conductor from 1987 to 1991, conducting a vast range of public concerts, recordings and radio broadcasting, and boasting a number of accolades from his tenure.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be appointed the Conductor Laureate of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, with whom I have had the inestimable pleasure of working in one capacity or another since the early Eighties,” Braithwaite said.

Over his time with ASO, Braithwaite has been admired for his great character and integrity, forming strong friendships with members of the orchestra, including ASO Managing Director Vincent Ciccarello.
