As its production of Puccini’s La Bohème nears its 200th performance, Opera Australia has announced it is offering 200 tickets at $2 a pop in a bid to encourage opera-curious audiences to experience the art form for the first time.

Adult tickets to OA performances typically range from $176 (for C-reserve seats) to $345 for the “premium reserve” sections.

“For years now Opera Australia has been deeply committed to ensuring that people from all walks of life can access the excitement and drama of this incredible art form, for little or no cost,” said Opera Australia CEO Fiona Allan.

“Schemes like the $20 Susan & Isaac Wakil Foundation Access Program and our Opera for Students program aim to bring the magic of opera to newcomers. And there is no better way to experience opera for the first time than this wonderful production of La Bohème in the Sydney Opera House.”
