Opera Queensland has announced that Australian director Patrick Nolan will be the company’s next Artistic Director, taking over from Lindy Hume at the start of November. The AD of Australian aerial theatre company Legs On The Wall from 2009 to 2014, Nolan is an experienced director of opera, theatre, physical theatre and large-scale outdoor events. He has directed many of Australia’s major performing arts companies, as well as internationally for Seattle Opera and New Zealand Opera.

He directed the Helpmann Award nominated Australian opera Love in the Age of Therapy, co-created with Paul Grabowsky and Joanna Murray-Smith in 2002, and has created work for all of the major city festivals in Australia, including the Helpmann Award winning Kura Tungar-Songs from the River with Archie Roach and Ruby Hunter and the Australian Art Orchestra for Melbourne Festival and A Flowering Tree by John Adams for Perth Festival.
