Phoenix Central Park has unveiled a new four-day jazz festival to run from 31 March to 3 April. The festival, titled STRATA, has been curated by performer and composer Laurence Pike and will inhabit the innovative inner Sydney performance space in Chippendale, which was founded in 2020 by Judith Neilson.

“Australia has always punched above its weight in creative music, and the STRATA program draws from the wealth of talent we have living here,” said curator Laurence Pike. “Musicians I have had the privilege to listen to, learn from, and work with, such as Mike Nock (who will perform his seminal ECM album Ondas for the first time since its release 40 years ago); Phil Slater, whose band is in my opinion one of the great groups in Australian jazz; a welcome reunion for Triosk 15 years after their last performance; leading figures of Melbourne’s thriving scene in Barney McAll, Andrea Keller,...
