Season Preview: Your guide to the arts in 2021

Sydney philanthropist Judith Neilson’s new cultural centre, Phoenix Central Park, has launched a new series of digital commissions to kick off 2021.

The new building in Chippendale, which includes an art gallery, performance space, rooftop cactus garden and intriguing nooks and crannies that now house works of art, was designed by Durbach Block Jaggers and John Wardle Architects. It has garnered national and international architectural prizes, including the NSW Architecture Medallion, and awards for interior and commercial architecture. It was completed in February last year and was christened with a performance by new music group Ensemble Offspring before the COVID-19 pandemic forced it to close its doors again.
