Season Preview: Your guide to the arts in 2021

State Theatre Company South Australia has announced an exciting looking 2021 season, which features eight plays across the year, including three world premieres and a modern classic, which will be re-interrogated through an Australian lens. Several of the productions have been rescheduled from 2020 after they were postponed due to COVID-19.

In the wake of the huge response to the company’s socially distanced productions of Gaslight, which sold out, and Ripcord, which plays at the Dunstan Playhouse from 13 November to 5 December and also looks likely sell out, the company decided to launch a full year’s season.

Currently STCSA is permitted to play to a 50 percent capacity audience. “SA Health and the Adelaide Festival Centre have said to us that 50 percent might be a thing for quite a while so we’ve budgeted for that and put a season together that we think can still meet budget,” Artistic Director Mitchell Butel tells Limelight.
