Season Preview: Your guide to the arts in 2023

With its biggest number of international artists since 2019, Sydney Festival has announced its 2023 program, with 748 performances of more than 100 events taking place between 5–29 January. The 2023 season features 18 world premieres and 14 Australian exclusive events in a lineup that is “literally taking the city as its canvas”, as it sprawls across summer and 54 of Sydney’s forgotten and familiar venues. Events range from an opera staged on an artificial beach at Sydney Town Hall to a late-night music venue in the Commercial Traveller’s Association building in Martin Place, designed by Harry Seidler.
