Season Preview: Your guide to the arts in 2021

Sydney Theatre Company has announced “Act 1” of its 2021 season, the first five plays the company is planning for next year. The season includes new work as well as several shows from the 2020 season that were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and will see the company return to the newly renovated Wharf 4/5 for the first time in three years.

“The major upgrade has improved audience facilities and unleashed the creative potential of our new theatres,” STC Artistic Director Kip Williams said. “The new Wharf will preserve the magnificent heritage details that give The Wharf its unique wharfiness, but you’ll also get experiences such as greater accessibility, new lifts and entries along the wharf, more amenities, additional customer service hubs and vantage points to absorb the stunning harbour views. Since the renovations, the refitted Wharf Theatres will now be fully flexible, which was Richard Wherrett’s original vision for the space. Each time you enter you’ll be met with an exciting new seating configuration.”
