It’s the middle of the pandemic, somewhere in the suburbs of Sydney.

Jules (a version of Jules Orcullo, played and written by Jules Orcullo) has moved home to their mum’s house. They’ve given themself two years to focus on their art – to write songs, have ideas, and do a lot of scrolling on TikTok. Then, Tim Minchin sees one of the songs they wrote about him on TikTok and all of their wildest dreams are realised.

Forgetting Tim Minchin is a musical play about Jules. Like Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna’s Crazy-Ex Girlfriend, or Jonathan Larson’s Tick, Tick… Boom!, Forgetting Tim Minchin seems like it’s about the artist type finding themselves through song. But it’s really about much more than that.

Despite Jules’s repeated warnings that nothing that happens in this story is real, this tender portrait of their life and relationships will have you experiencing some very real feelings.
