Chamber Music Adelaide is a long-standing umbrella organisation that supports and promotes small ensembles to perform classical and contemporary music in Adelaide. In 2016, CMA staged its first On the Terrace program, in which its various ensembles gave a series of free 10 to 15 minute recitals in key locations in Adelaide’s North Terrace cultural precinct — the Art Gallery of SA, the SA Museum, the State Library of SA and the Migration Museum. Functioning as a mini-festival, On the Terrace has been held very successfully every year since and it continues to educate and whet the musical appetites of a growing audience. Held over the course of a Sunday, each recital is repeated a few times, and is highly accessible to audiences and passers-by.
