Offering one wedding and no funerals, accompanied by obligatory inappropriate speeches and a skinful of boogielicious sing-a-long love songs, There’s Something About Music delivers a pretty irresistible invitation. And when after two encores it finally turns on the “ugly lights” to send you out of the theatre, bopping rather than walking and ready to go dancing, the event has totally done its job.

The Little Red Company knows what works, creating shows based on a musical theme served up with ballsy banter based around friendship and familiarity.

This one draws inspiration from movie romantic comedies. Some songs are instantly associated with the films, such as I Say a Little Prayer and My Best Friend’s Wedding, and Chapel of Love and Four Weddings and a Funeral, while other hits might have you pondering the cinematic source (well, depending on your age!). And there are a couple that perhaps won’t ring a bell at all.
